Citizen Energy Community Tbilisi (GE)

The First Tbilisi Citizen Energy Community will be located in the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. Young people working in the energy sector decided to team up and build the First Citizen Energy Community in Georgia. As there is no relevant legislation in place, the cooperation will be realized under the Virtual Net Metering scheme (Tenant Model). The team plans to expand and install more capacity as they were a best practice example. Green electricity for tenants will be provided by solar panels installed on the roof of one of the team members’ house. He will also guarantee maintenance (cleaning, security) of the solar panels. The other four members will make a monetary contribution. The generated electricity will be divided equally among the members. As access to finance is the most prominent barrier in Georgia yet, members decided to finance the community by its own resources.
