​​In May 2021, the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) participated in the European initiative DIALOGUES, which aims to promote citizen participation in the energy transition and create innovative decentralized energy models enabling vulnerable groups (women, low-income households or affected by energy poverty, ethnic minorities, etc.) to be active participants in the energy transformation. Within DIALOGUES, a Civic Action Lab was held in October 2022, engaging citizens of Belene municipality in a collaborative research process studying energy citizenship and its role in the local and regional context. 

​In order to build on the results of the Laboratory, CSD is organizing a follow-up event with experts and representatives of institutions at the national, regional and local level, on February 16 2023, from 15:00 to 16:30, online, on the Zoom platform. 

​Mariya Trifonova participated in the online discussion expressing her opinion on innovative solutions and policy recommendations to promote various forms of energy citizenship based on her work in SHAREs project.
